A Young Sheldon season 6 behind-the-scenes video hypes up more Missy scenes. On September 29 the Coopers return on the small screen after The Big Bang Theory spin-off concluded season 5 in May. Thanks to the officially released Young Sheldon season 6 trailer viewers have an idea of what to expect from the show when it comes back with new episodes.
On top of its collective arcs theres anticipation to see whats next for Sheldons family members individually. That includes the fan-favorite character Missy who became the backbone of the clan as they dealt with the fallout from Georgies unexpected pregnancy news towards the end of season 5. As great as it was to see Missy take charge it effectively relegated her to a secondary character. Luckily it seems like Young Sheldon season 6 is amending this by putting more focus on Missy and her personal adventures separate from the rest of the Cooper family.

Not capitalizing on Missys popularity is a big missed opportunity for Young Sheldon. She is widely regarded as the best Cooper sibling despite her rather disappointing fate in The Big Bang Theory. After Sheldon changed schools to start college Missy was barely shown in Medford High School. Instead her scenes were mostly set at home which makes it difficult to develop a personal story for her that isnt tethered to whats happening witth the rest of her family. A few times in the behind-the-scenes video Missy can be seen filming bits on her own it even has a highlight of her going to school. Hopefully these are indications that Missy will finally have her own narrative in Young Sheldon season 6.
Putting more focus on Missy would also help Young Sheldons overall storytelling. It has been getting increasingly clear that the show is diversifying its storytelling focus to become more of a family comedy/drama rather than just a sitcom like The Big Bang Theory. Developing Missys personal arc offers variety in that regard especially since she could have more typical adolescent issues compared to her brother. This could be very helpful going into Young Sheldon season 6 where Sheldon and Missy will be teens.
